What is open

The island reopens. Hotels return to full service across the east and north coasts. Kitesurfing schools start up again on Paje and Jambiani. Diving conditions are good, with cooler water and good visibility.

Events & cultural calendar

The Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) takes place at the end of the month, with screenings on the seafront at the Old Fort. Eid al-Adha falls in early June in 2026.
