# Zanzibar Seasons

Zanzibar Seasons is a structured reference system documenting the yearly rhythm of the Zanzibar archipelago — its seasons, weather patterns, cultural events, and how a typical week on the island unfolds. Produced by EMBE Foundation. Supported by the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism.

## What the site documents

- The four Swahili monsoon seasons: Kaskazi (Dec–Feb, hot, calm seas, peak diving and dhow conditions), Masika (Mar–May, the long rains, quietest period), Kuzi (Jun–Oct, dry and breezy, peak kitesurfing on the east coast), and Vuli (Nov, short afternoon storms).
- The most stable weather periods are Kaskazi and Kuzi.
- Stone Town, on the west coast of Unguja, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Saadani National Park, on the mainland coast facing Zanzibar, is the only African park where the savanna meets the Indian Ocean.
